Infinity Ward shares Community Update for Modern Warfare

Communication…it’s finally happening.

Infinity Ward has shared their first community update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, providing fans a look at what’s coming to the game, what’s happening at the studio, and more.

Here’s the full community update:

A little over a month ago, we kicked off Season One of Modern Warfare with new maps, modes, weapons, and Special Ops experiences, making it one of the biggest drops to come to Call of Duty. The responses we’ve seen from the community have been absolutely incredible and we genuinely can’t thank you all enough for playing and for being this journey with us. Now that we’re fresh into 2020, we want to update you on a few things we’re working on…

What’s Coming?

Gunfight 3v3: Aside from the Gunfight 1v1 playlist we rolled out this week, we’re working on another version of Gunfight, 3v3!

Additional loadouts: 5 loadouts aren’t enough, so we’ll be adding more loadout slots over the coming weeks!

Gunfight Tournament: It was incredible to see so many people jumping into the Gunfight Tournament Beta back in November and we plan on bringing tournaments back once we’ve squashed a few bugs and added in new rewards.

MORE 2XP, 2X Weapon XP, and 2X Tier events!

That’s just a taste of things we’re working on, so keep an eye out for these and more in future updates!

Known Issues

Below is a short list of issues we’re currently tracking…

  • Lighting flickering on various maps
  • Mission collision on containers on Cargo
  • Platinum skins not unlocking properly
  • Out of map exploits in Ground War
  • Platinum and Damascus camos glare while ADS

But, that’s not all we’re tracking.

You all are great at keeping us updated with features you’d like to see, modes you want to play, bugs you encounter, and overall feedback. With that, we want to keep you as up to date as possible, so starting today we’ll be using this nifty Trello board to show you issues we’re tracking, provide support, and even give a sneak peek at things that are coming up. It’s not everythingwe’re working on, but it’s an awesome way to see what’s on our radar and some of the community issues we’ve acknowledged.

This board can get updated in real-time, so be sure to bookmark it, refresh it, and be on the lookout for updates!

Check out the Modern Warfare Trello board HERE

Moving Forward….

We want to keep you even more updated, so below is a simple calendar to show you what types of content you can expect to see:

Tuesday – Playlist updates

Thursday – Developer diary and/or behind the scenes blog

Friday – Community Update blog

And of course, anytime we do a patch or title update, you’ll see patch notes posted on our website, Trello board, and across social media. Please keep in mind that things are always subject to change, so we’ll do our best to keep you updated each week.

Thank You!

All of this and more will be coming out over the next few weeks, so please stay tuned for more details and specifics. As we head into the new year, we want to thank you all again for playing, talking with us, and for being part of this community. We’re truly grateful and we look forward to sharing more with you soon.

Fix for Quick Play Filter in Modern Warfare not rotating modes coming

Fans have discovered a small issue with the Quick Play filter in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare that causes players unable to rotate through different modes, but rather only maps with the same mode.

The issue is is that once you are put in a match with a mode, that mode becomes the only mode the game rotates you through until you back out and go back into the filter to search.

Infinity Ward’s Art Director has confirmed on Reddit that the studio is working on a fix that is currently in testing to release soon to address this, which will allow the Quick Play filter to work as intended.

It’s the quick play filter. We are aware and have a fix in flight.

There is no indication as to when the next big patch update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will release. Season 1 continues in the game through end of January, per the Battle Pass timer, so there’s still a few weeks of Season 1 left.

Gunfight Tournaments will return soon to Modern Warfare with new rewards

Infinity Ward has confirmed that Gunfight Tournaments feature will return at some point to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

The studio launched the Gunfight Tournaments feature in beta in late November for only one week to test out the feature and provide a weapon reward in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

The game’s tournament bracket system auto populates with the players and teams, and advances players based on wins throughout the tournament.

The studio has now confirmed that the Gunfight Tournaments will return to the game soon with new rewards to earn for players.

Infinity Ward did not provide an exact date for when this feature will return. The feature originally went live November 25 and was live for just one week.

As a refresher, here’s how the system works:

The tournament is single elimination with 32 players, 16 teams, and 8 rounds on the way to being crowned the victor. You advance with a win or go back to the lobby with a defeat. For each victory you earn XP and other rewards. For winning the tournament for the first time you can earn a high tier cosmetic reward and XP!

The tournament is bracket style, and you’ll be able to see the teams on both sides of the bracket. You’ll wait at a menu screen before the match and have a little bit of time to choose your Operator and discuss game strategy. Afterwards you’ll load into the game and play your first round. If you win, you’ll advance to the next round. Just note, you may have to wait in the lobby until your opponent finishes their match.

We’ll keep you updated with a potential release date as more information is shared.

Infinity Ward is investigating the player collision changes in Modern Warfare

Infinity Ward has stated on Reddit that they are investigating the changes to player collisions that was made in a recent update to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

A recent update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare made some odd changes to player collision where players were able to knock others into a line of sight, causing them to lose a gun fight or be unable to react.

Infinity Ward’s Joel Emslie has confirmed on Reddit that they are looking into the changes and investigating a fix for it. He said he was not 100% sure if the fix is in testing already or still being worked on.

We are definitely looking into that. Im not sure if the fix is in flight or still being worked on.

There’s no indication yet for when the next update for Modern Warfare will go live. Infinity Ward has mentioned that they are continuing to work on it.
