Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Crossplay Beta Day 3 Recap

Day 3 of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Crossplay Open Beta on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC is wrapping up, and Infinity Ward has shared on Reddit a recap of the day, including what they’re looking into after Day 3 and more.

The studio is continuing to look at the feedback from issues on Xbox One and PC, crashes on other platforms, and more.

Infinity Ward added in the new Ground War mode and increased the Level to 30 to the Beta on Day 3.

The studio also provided an update on what additional content to expect going into Day 4 of the Crossplay Open Beta.

FROM INFINITY WARD:

We hope you’ve been enjoying the beta so far and we can’t thank you all enough for playing. It’s been an amazing weekend and we’ve loved reading your feedback and thoughts. We’ve seen MASSIVE amounts of players joining up today and it’s been incredible! Ground War seems to be a hit with all of you and we’re excited for you to see the variety of larger maps and higher player counts than the one you’re seeing in Beta.

Take a look at feedback we’re looking into from today along with what you’ll get your hands on tomorrow!

Feedback We’re Looking Into:

Since the Beta kicked off, we’ve been tracking your feedback and we’ll continue to do so throughout the weekend. This isn’t everything you’ve reported, but here are some of the bugs and fixes we’ve been tracking…

  • Blurriness on PC
  • Crashes on Xbox One and PC (please check existing threads on here if you’re experiencing one of these crashes)
  • If you’re experiencing any crashes on PC, please click HERE for support
  • Players were able to change their input device midmatch. We deployed a fix for this during the beta.
  • Xbox users: We know of a bug with invites and joining up from the Xbox Dashboard. While this is being investigated, you can still send invites and join up with friends within the game.
  • Staying together as a Party after a match: After completing a match as a party, some players are unable to find a new match and are stuck in the matchmaking lobby. We’re still looking into this issue, but in the meantime, disbanding your party and joining back up is a temporary solution while we work on a fix.
  • Spawning and Visuals: Spawning is currently inconsistent on some maps, so thank you for sharing your videos with us and sharing your feedback. We’ll continue to monitor the spawn system and we’ll update you if we deploy any changes. We will also be looking into lighting and exposure on various areas of the map, such as how you view dark rooms from the outside of a building and vice versa, for example.
  • Voice chat: Voice chat is inconsistent when joining up with players on other platforms. This is being investigated.
  • Ground War: In some cases, players would spawn or be ‘pushed’ under the map, allowing them to kill enemy players while being hidden. Friendlies are also able to spawn on under the map as well. We’re looking into how you spawn on your teammates as well as spawning in on vehicles in general, too.
  • Screen Tearing would occur for some players on Xbox; mostly after spawning in or after using a killstreak
  • VTOL Jet is able to fire through the roof of buildings and kill enemy players
  • Vehicle Audio and/or in-game music is sometimes the only audio being played regardless of being in a lobby or match
  • Suppressed M13 still uses normal audio sounds
  • Settings not saving on PC
  • FOV Slider setting reverting to default after loading into the map. This has been fixed.

COMING SUNDAY:

Playlists:

  • 6v6 Gun Runner
  • 6v6 Hackney Yard (Day)
  • 6v6 Azhir Cave (Day)
  • 10v10 Grazna Raid
  • 32v32 Ground War (Karst River Quarry)
  • Game Mode Filter: TDM (Team Deathmatch)
  • Game Mode Filter: Dom (Domination)
  • Game Mode Filter: HQ (Headquarters)
  • Game Mode Filter: Cyber Attack
  • Game Mode Filter: 10v10 HQ (Headquarters)
  • Game Mode Filter: 10v10 Dom (Domination)
  • Featured Playlist: 32v32 Ground War (Karst River Quarry)
  • Featured Playlist: Realism – TDM (Azhir Cave, Hackney Yard, Gun Runner)

How Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s cross-play will work

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is coming to consoles and PC on Oct. 25, with cross-play support across PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One. Players will get a taste of cross-platform multiplayer starting Thursday, Sept. 19, with Modern Warfare’s cross-play open beta.

On the official Activision blog, the game’s creators explain how cross-play will work in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and how you’ll be able to hook up with your friends on other platforms.

Two important items to note: Players can opt in or out of cross-platform play, and if they want to play multiplayer, they’ll need a COD Account. Players can sign up for an account using their PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Steam, or Battle.net ID through the Call of Duty website.

According to the blog:

Using your COD Account, you are able to create cross-platform Friends lists and Parties from all three supported platforms. This unites the community by removing barriers, creating platform-agnostic friend groups. Are you a PS4 player with friends on Xbox One and PC, for example? Now you can organize parties and jump into matches with your friends, easily and quickly regardless of platform!

As for keeping the playing field level, matchmaking will be done by input type: controller, or mouse and keyboard. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will support keyboard and mouse on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, if you want to cross-play with PC players. Similarly, PC players can match with console players if all parties are using a controller.

Infinity Ward and Activision will also allow players to join multiplayer lobbies with no control scheme filters whatsoever. If you really want to get wrecked using a controller on PS4 against a player on PC using keyboard and mouse, you have that option.

To keep all platforms in parity, Activision and Infinity Ward say that “most” post-release game content — multiplayer maps, modes, and special ops missions — will be released simultaneously across all platforms. That means no more waiting for PS4 players to get first crack at DLC. That said, PS4 players will still enjoy “an exciting Day 1 advantage,” but developers did not specify what that would be.

PlayStation 4 to get ‘exciting’ Day 1 advantage in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Activision has announced that a majority of the new post launch content coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare post launch will be available across all platforms at the same time.

The announcement came as part of the Cross Play news that will allow players to play together across the PS4, Xbox One, and PC

In that announcement, however, Activision has stated that the PlayStation partnership continues to exist in for Call of Duty, and that there’s big news yet to come.

The company says that PlayStation will have an “exciting” Day 1 advantage, but they did not clarify it.

In addition, Call of Duty is excited to continue its partnership with PlayStation, including last weekend’s PS4 debut of the Modern Warfare Open Beta as well as the recent PS4 exclusive 2v2 Alpha. But the best is yet to come. For the very first time in our partnership with PlayStation, PS4 players will have an exciting Day 1 advantage. More details on how Call of Duty will continue to support PlayStation as the best place to play Modern Warfare will be rolled out soon.

We’ll update as we learn more.

How Cross Play will work in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Ahead of the start of Weekend 2 of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta, Activision and Infinity Ward have shared details on how the cross play feature will work in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

This weekend of the Modern Warfare Beta is on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and Cross Play will be enabled allowing players to play with friends on any platform.

Infinity Ward has shared some new info via Activision Blog and the live stream on how exactly Cross Play is going to work in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and what their plans are for this feature.

Here’s the details on the Cross Play support in Modern Warfare:

1. You can Opt in, or Opt out:

In Modern Warfare, players can choose to enable crossplay, allowing players to play with friends on all three supported platforms, so the game offers an opt-in choice.

2. A COD Account is Needed:

Remember, you will need a COD Account to play Modern Warfare, if you don’t have one already you can create one here.

3. Matchmaking and Balancing:

In Modern Warfare, crossplay has been designed to factor play balancing across differences in controller type. No one should feel an unfair advantage. Plus, players have choices on which control device they wish to use on any platform. Here are some examples you may experience:

·      You can decide to use keyboard and mouse on PlayStation® 4 or Xbox One.

·      You can decide to use a controller on PC.

·      PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC players can all play against each other, provided they all utilize controllers, or all utilize KBM (a keyboard and mouse).

·      You can place into a lobby where there are no control scheme filters, allowing you to play with players using both controllers and/or KBM across up to all three supported platforms.

Plus, with the addition of crossplay, we anticipate that players should look forward to even shorter lobby wait times.

4. Adding your Friends and Gathering Parties:

Using your COD Account, you are able to create cross-platform Friends lists and Parties from all three supported platforms. This unites the community by removing barriers, creating platform-agnostic friend groups. Are you a PS4 player with friends on Xbox One and PC, for example? Now you can organize parties and jump into matches with your friends, easily and quickly regardless of platform!

5. Crossplay Applicable Modes:

Crossplay supports all multiplayer modes in Modern Warfare. There are no plans currently to support Ranked Play or competitive tournaments.

These are just a few of the highlights. Today at 10AM PDT, Infinity Ward developers will go even deeper on the ins and outs of crossplay gameplay live via stream. You can tune in here.

In addition, the company announced that PlayStation will not be getting Modern Warfare content early. All platforms will be getting post launch maps and modes at the same time.

Modern Warfare post launch content to release on all platforms at the same time

Who knew this day would finally come?

Activision has announced that post launch maps and modes for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will release on all platforms at the same time, marking an end to the exclusivity periods that have been part of Call of Duty for more than 12 years.

The company announced this information as part of a blog post detailing how Cross Play will work in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Cross Play will allow players to play Modern Warfare with friends on any platform – between PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Following the launch of Modern Warfare next month, the team has worked to ensure that content will be released in a way that enables all players to continue to seamlessly play together. Most Post-launch gameplay content, including new multiplayer maps, new multiplayer modes, special ops missions and more will release simultaneously across all platforms. We look forward to further detailing how post-launch content plans will operate prior to Modern Warfare’s launch on October 25th.

With Cross Play in mind, Activision and Infinity Ward wants to keep the player base together and ensure all players have the same matchmaking content to play.

The exclusivity agreement for Call of Duty started all the way back in 2009 with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, when Xbox was receiving new DLC content 30 days early before PS3 and PC. That Xbox deal lasted through 2014’s Advanced Warfare release.

In 2015, Activision announced a new partnership with Sony PlayStation starting with Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 to bring new content first to PlayStation 4 and have esports hosted on the PS4. That deal has lasted for 4 years now, and with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 the deal changed to bring all new content 7 days early on PS4. PlayStation has remained the presenting partner of the Call of Duty World League as well.

As previously announced by Infinity Ward and Activision, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare does not have the Season Pass. All post launch maps are available for free for everyone across platforms.
